Black Death (or the importance of reading instructions)
Author: Carrie
I decided this summer to start an earthworm habitat for our homeschool. I had hoped with a few big squirmy worm friends we could gain a greater appreciation for the more humble creatures in God’s ecosystem. To be honest, I also had in mind that we would perform some behavioral experiments on them using this great looking book I found used, Creepy Crawlies and the Scientific Method. What a happy coincidence that I ran into this earthworm booth at a local Earth Day festival! They were handing out FREE earthworm compost habitats for kids! Mastermind was the only kid with me at the time and he was less than enthusiastic about it, so I got in line myself. They were kind of smaller than I expected (kind of like ultra-fine angel hair spaghetti), but I figured with lots of TLC they would grow up the big squirmy pets I envisioned us naming and playing with and doing experiments on.

My boys and I are having a t.v.-fest today. We’ve watched Spectacular Spiderman (not nearly as good as the old-time animated show) two episodes of American Gladiators, including the two hour finale championship episode. It’s a beautiful, crisp fall day today and I am guiltlessly skipping church and spending it in front of the television watching lots of LCD shows. Why do I feel okay with this? SuperGeek and Heyhey are at the football game today, and I have a giant inflated ball of snot threatening to explode inside my sinuses. Aside from the obvious discomfort, it’s kind of nice to be absolutely out of commission and doing stuff like writing my blog here without feeling bad about it.
The big question remains, though, how long can I stand my scrungy self before I take a shower? Only time will tell.
Well aren’t YOU Miz Fancy Pants!

This begins my blog. A little jab that my fam likes to throw around when someone gets too big for their britches. (To be honest they use more colorful language, but this is a family-friendly site.) Trust me, I am really out of my comfort zone here. I hope to chronicle some of the day to day stuff for posterity and maybe use this as a little venue for bragging on my kids!
